Former Presidential Candidate is Under FBI Investigation and MSM is Silent

Opinion - Crime and corruption riddled the 2016 presidential election. On the Republican side, Donald Trump was cause for concern over alleged conflicts of interest in Russia and a past filled with possibly unethical and illegal actions, as well as a litany of bankruptcies. On the Democratic ticket, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton found herself in hot water having to relive all the scandals of her husband's White House years. Additionally, Clinton was overcome by her time as Secretary of State, in which Christopher Stevens, the Ambassador to Libya, was killed during a raid on his Benghazi compound. The use of a private email server during her tenure at State was also heavily scrutinized by her opponents throughout the election.
However, another Democratic candidate joins the ranks of FBI investigation. The beloved socialist senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders is now being investigated by the FBI. This comes after his wife, Jane, ran a project at Burlington College, which led to its ultimate demise. However, the trigger for the investigation came when a $10 million bank loan was used to expand the school, but the college had to pay off a $17 million sexual assault case first. Quickly after that, the school went under.
As suspected, the media is not focused on this case. Senator Sanders has an important role here, as he allegedly pressured the bank in question for the loan. This case of bank fraud is potentially damaging for the socialist senator, who ran on a corruption-free message. This all sparks the question of why this case matters.
Sanders is another winner of mainstream media privilege. He is able to avoid any major criticism about the investigation, as CNN, MSNBC, and the like refuse to put any manpower into this investigation. As Project Veritas has shown us, CNN is a quite intent on pushing the alleged Trump-Russia Scandal. Sanders has proven that the media is willing to cover corruption if they agree with the corrupt person's politics. Sanders is being accused of bank fraud, something which CNN, oddly enough, ran an article on regarding a Trump Organization bank in relation to a Russian bank just three months prior. There is nothing wrong with covering possible fraud in regard to Trump if the evidence is there. Likewise, if there is an effort to focus on other investigations, the Sanders investigation should get the same treatment. This is just another case of the Mainstream Media picking their winners and losers.
The Right does have a reason to call the mainstream media out on this topic. When media hit Trump so hard for this exact situation, it is frustrating when they turn a blind eye to the other side doing the same thing. The media has constantly proved they are willing to help Sanders unless it is at the expense of Hillary. Additionally, this just proves how much corruption is on the left - the side that is not afraid to call out banks for being too big to fail are also the side that is not afraid to pressure the bank to get what they want. Sanders has further proved he is above his socialist nonsense and is willing to hobnob with the fat cats he so vehemently despises.
This case highlights the unfortunate path our politics is heading down, as well. When both members of the major parties have alleged conflicts with big banks and fraud, it is not a good sign. This shows that some of the shadiest people are rising to the top of both parties. In reflection, it seems both parties do not actually have an issue with elevating these people to prominent status. Voters are afraid the other side is going to be running the most corrupt politician so they, in turn, are not afraid to run a corrupt politician. A quickly deepening distrust of fellow Americans has led the U.S. down a path of mistrust that will destroy the social fabric.
Bernie Sanders should have to face the heat for this story. This is a major accusation, but if it is true, he must face the repercussions of bank fraud. Additionally, anyone on the right who does the same should also face similar consequences. As mentioned earlier, the Trump Organization has had some serious charges levied against it. It is fair game for the media and citizens to ask for the underlying facts to be presented on the case. Additionally, the media should not give Sanders a free pass because they are sympathetic to his policies. In the end, if both sides were able to clean up their houses, these stories would not be important. As a nation, we could worry less about the overlying corruption and discuss and hash out policy. However, these stories surrounding personal actions of corrupt officials always grow as the government does. This case is a classic example of why fighting for smaller government will, in turn, decrease the amount of corruption in government.
