Hillary Clinton has been the topic of much controversy following her 2016 election loss. She’s headlined news sites with her book, excuses on her loss, and possible collusion between her campaign and DNC to secure the democratic nomination.

On New Years Eve, The New York Times reported that a major Clinton campaign donor, Susie Tompkins Buell, had spent over $500,000 to bring forward allegations of sexual misconduct against President Trump.

Buell, the creator of Espirit Clothing, and a long time Clinton donor and friend, gave money to A-list celebrity lawyer Lisa Bloom, in hopes she would be able to bring accusations against Trump into the public sphere.

During the last stretch of the 2016 election, more than 10 women accused then Republican nominee Trump of sexual misconduct. Lisa Bloom represented most of the women behind the allegations.

Lisa Bloom’ firm sought donations from various parties, including Clinton backer David Brock, who spent more than $200,000 from his own non-profit organization on the allegations. Buell’s $500,000 donation was the largest by far, and brings concerns to the legitimacy of Bloom’s representation of the women.

Bloom suggests she did not pay these women to bring faux allegations against the president, but used stories that were corroborated. She also told the Times that she did not communicate with the Clinton campaign “on any of this.”

The source of the scandal comes from two democrats who were ‘familiar’ with the dealings between Bloom and Buell/Brock. They also confirmed that Bloom has returned the $500,000 dollar donation from Buell, but has not returned 200,000 paid by David Brock’s non-profit.

Clinton headquarters has commented saying they were ‘unaware’ of Brocks work with Lisa Bloom.

No allegations have been brought before court, and most of the alleged victims of Trump have slowly distanced themselves from Bloom and Trump all together. Accusers demanded various amounts from Bloom to come forward, including a mortgage payments and six figure reparations from Bloom, before deciding to back away from claims.

While recent sexual misconduct claims have targeted and successfully removed many prominent Hollywood and political icons, allegations against President Trump have been shrouded in controversy. No accusations have been met in court, and scandals surrounding donations to victims by prominent Clinton backers have begun to emerge.
