Leaked Emails Reveal Chelsea Clinton Was Worried about Clinton INC.

Among the leaked emails from Bill and Hillary Clinton’s private email server that were revealed this week by WikiLeaks, Chelsea Clinton earns some choice admonition from the Clintons’ longtime friend and adviser, Doug Band.
Band says, “she is acting like a spoiled brat kid” who “runs to daddy to change a decision or interject herself in the process.” Band’s only contact with Chelsea Clinton stemmed from her concern that Band’s public relations firm, Teneo, had brought on the collapsing firm MF Global as a client, and hired the former president as a paid adviser, allegedly funneling money to keep the Clintons’ names off of the failing financial firm’s balance sheets, and was using his name to attract more clients.
According to the New York Post, in December 2011, Chelsea had to travel to London on “official Clinton Global Initiative business” and discovered someone representing Teneo had lobbied members of Parliament “on behalf of President Clinton” without his permission, “which would horrify him,” according to Chelsea. While there, “at least two people” expressed concerns that Band, like thousands of others, was simply trying to cash in on his connections to the former, and potentially future, first family.
Hearing about this, Band complained to John Podesta and Cheryl Mills, “she spends all of seven days in her office” and chalked up the youngest Clinton’s foray into his private business as the behavior of someone that “hasn’t found her way and has a lack of focus in her life.” Band then shamelessly relays that a Clinton Foundation staffer, Heather Graham, was driven to contemplate suicide with the office politics of Bill and his daughter as they sought to give Chelsea more power and higher public profile within the organization.
He explains to Podesta in the leaked email that his firm, “has almost nothing to do with the Clintons, the foundation, or [the Clinton Global Initiative] in any way.”
Teneo counted Bill Clinton as a paid adviser, paid a salary to Hillary Clinton’s aide, Huma Abedein, and one of Teneo’s founders, Declan Kelly, was working at the State Department under the former first lady.
Chelsea is one of Hillary’s chief advisers and surrogates for millennials. Her convention speech was less about humanizing her “warm and loving mother, the grandmother of my first child” and more about what young people could expect from “a tireless advocate of women and children.” Speaking to an audience that literally booed her mother the day before, she was probably pretty thankful this wouldn’t be a paid position where she would be expected to deliver actual results - convincing millennials to trust her parents with control over access to government agencies and taxpayer subsidies is a tough job when it’s clear as day that cashing in on access to the Clintons is precisely what people like Doug Band are doing.
She stood up to Doug Band, and his complaints only confirm she hit a nerve.
Perhaps that will be Chelsea’s role in a Clinton White House - gatekeeper for a gate that should not exist. Maybe then, Doug Band can rest easy knowing she’s finally found her focus in life.
