The Terror of Black Lives Matter
Eric Lendrum, Politics Contributor
It has been reported that an act of domestic terrorism occurred in Chicago today. A white, apparently special needs, supporter of Donald Trump was kidnapped by four African-American individuals, tied up, and tortured - all while being filmed by one of them and broadcast on Facebook’s “Live Video” feature.
The full video is nearly half-an-hour long, and was broadcast by a Facebook user identified as Brittany Herring, who has since deleted her account. Although most of the video is simply Herring talking to the viewers - often scolding viewers who appear to be expressing shock and outrage in the comments - the camera occasionally cuts to the victim. He is seen sitting on the floor in a corner, hands bound behind his back, with a white rag tied around his mouth, and blood leaking from a massive gash on the top of his head.
The perpetrators can be seen as four African-Americans - two males, and two females (one of whom is Herring). It is primarily the two males who are doing the beating, with one of them, at one point, wrapping a rope around the victim’s neck and hoisting him off the ground by the rope. He is threatened with a knife, forced to drink toilet water, and at one point injected in the arm with what appears to be some kind of drug. Herring repeatedly laughs and makes fun of the victim for crying at the pain he is enduring, and refers to him as a “goof.”
The motivation behind this ruthless act of terrorism is clear in the deranged rants of the perpetrators throughout the video, including: “F*** Donald Trump! F*** white people!”
As reported by Fox News, the victim was held hostage for a period of time between 24 and 48 hours. Police eventually found the victim wandering the streets in a disoriented state - he was immediately rushed to the hospital and treated. He has since been released - apparently in stable condition - and is being interviewed by investigators. Eventually, all four perpetrators - who are all 18 years old - were captured.
Although the response by the Chicago Police Department seemed to write off the incident as “young people making stupid decisions,” the case is, in fact, ultimately being investigated as a hate crime.
The original Facebook video was lost when Herring’s account was deleted, but it was saved and reuploaded to YouTube by Washington State University student activist James Allsup, on his YouTube channel. The full video can be viewed here, but be advised: It is flagged as restricted, and you thus need a YouTube account, and must be over 18, in order to view it. Also be warned, the video is full of graphic language and contains violent imagery.
The video has since been copied and reuploaded to multiple other social media sites. The incident immediately received coverage through social media, even rising to #1 trending on Twitter (under the hashtag “#BLMKidnapping”) before being reported on by Megyn Kelly of Fox News.
